Halloween isn't typically known as a holiday that is widely celebrated by adults, but for those who want to have a little fun, here are a few fun holiday drinks.

Halloween has become known as a holiday for children to dress up and get candy. For those that are over 21 and are planning on staying at home or possibly having a party with friends, here are a few haunting drink recipes that are sure to raise some spirits.

White Spider

Serves 1

  • 1 measure vodka
  • 1 measure white crème de menthe

Pour the vodka and white crème de menthe over ice cubes in a mixing glass. Stir well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Black Widow

Serves 1

  • 2/3 measure dark rum
  • 1/3 measure Southern Comfort
  • Juice of 1/2 a lime
  • Dash of curaçao
  • Club soda
  • Lime peel

Shake the dark rum, Southern Comfort, lime juice, and a dash of curaçao together well over ice cubes and strain into a chilled highball glass. Fill with club soda and finish with a twist of lime.

Bloody Mary

Serves 1

  • Cracked ice
  • 2 measures vodka
  • 4 measures tomato juice
  • 1/2 measure lemon juice
  • 2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash of Tabasco sauce
  • Celery salt
  • Black pepper
  • Lemon wedge
  • Celery stalk

Shake the vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco vigorously over cracked ice. Season with the celery salt and black pepper. Strain into an iced old-fashioned glass and dress with the wedge of lemon and stalk of celery.

Moonrise

Serves 1

  • 1 1/4 cups medium dry cider
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 measure apple brandy
  • 2 teaspoons light cream

Put the cider into a saucepan with the brown sugar, pinch of ground cinnamon and pinch of freshly grated nutmeg. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Pour into a warmed heatproof glass and stir in the apple brandy. Float the light cream on top by pouring gently over the back of a teaspoon.

Moonlight

Serves 1

  • 2 measures applejack
  • 2 measure lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar syrup
  • Cracked ice

Shake the applejack, lemon juice, and sugar syrup vigorously over ice cubes until well frosted. Fill a chilled lowball glass half full with cracked ice and strain the cocktail over it.

El Diablo

Serves 1

  • Cracked ice
  • 2-3 strips of lime peel
  • 1 measure lime juice
  • 3 measures white tequila
  • 1 measure crème de cassis
  • Twist of lime peel

Fill a chilled lowball glass with the cracked ice; add the lime peel, lime juice, tequila, and crème de cassis. Stir well to mix. Serve with a twist of lime peel.

Voodoo

Serves 1

  • 1/2 measure Kahlúa, chilled
  • 1/2 measure Malibu, chilled
  • 1/2 measure butterscotch schnapps, chilled
  • 1 measure milk, chilled
  • Pour the Kahlúa, Malibu, schnapps, and milk into a highball glass and stir well.
